I found it helpful to make a distinction between forgiveness and trust. Basically, it's saying that instead of choosing to behave like THEM and stopping at nothing to have our revenge, I am choosing to respond with forgiveness. Even though I may technically have a RIGHT to respond in kind, I am choosing to rise above it.
